Synopsis

It's August 1977, in a small country town in Victoria.

Darlene is seventeen and wants desperately to go to Veterinary College - but will her exam results be good enough to allow her entry? Or will she be sidetracked by the advances of the new boy in her life, nineteen-year-old Joe.

Meanwhile, Aunt Ruby's Cafe is under threat from the opening of a new pizza bar next door. The high school customers and the country locals at the Kool Kafe do all they can to rally support for their favorite tea-time dive - and some take desperate measures to jeopardize the pizza bar's success. But still, the Kool Kafe seems destined to lose its business to the unwanted newcomer. But is there some other way to fight back? The times are a changing.

The rock n roll music of the past is giving way to a new sound on the dance floor, and the Kool Kafe must accept the only thing more popular than pizza is disco music. A dance-off between the warring cafes is set and the lines are drawn. Will the Kool Kafe's disco divas triumph over the pizza bar's rock n rollercoasters?

Whatever happens, it bound to be a contest that will have extraordinary - and perhaps shocking - results for everyone involved.
