The Visit

The Visit is a powerful and unsettling classic by Friedrich Dürrenmatt that explores morality, justice and how far a town will go for riches. When the fabulously wealthy Claire Zachanassian sweeps back into her poor hometown, the locals welcome her with open arms—until she makes them an outrageous offer. She is prepared to give her hometown millions—but only in exchange for what she calls justice. What follows is a wickedly clever mix of comedy, suspense, and social satire, as the town’s morals slowly bend under the weight of temptation. Directed by Greg Elliott.

Nominate your Charity!

We are inviting expressions of interest from local charities or non profit groups that would like to do some fundraising for their group. We are looking for up to five local groups (from the Blackwood area and surrounds) who can commit to bringing (at least) 10 people to our exclusive Charity Preview Night on Tuesday 18th November (just before our opening night on Friday 21st!) Tickets are available for the special price $20 per person, and all money from ticket sales goes back to your group! Your volunteers/members (and friends/family) enjoy a fun night out at the theatre, your group takes home the funds, and our cast gets a supportive audience. It's a win-win-win! Local schools, preschools, service clubs, special interest groups, charitable causes, etc, welcome! Contact us to nominate your group.

If you’re interested in getting involved in any of the above, please email blackwood.players@gmail.com or contact Greg on 0402 616 924.

Rehearsals are held at Blackwood Memorial Hall on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Following our successful presentation of The Government Inspector in August, we hope our community will again come out to support our final production for 2025. We look forward to seeing you at Blackwood Memorial Hall in November!

For more information about the show or to put your hand up to get involved as part of our crew or our front of house volunteer team, please contact Greg at blackwood.players@gmail.com or 0402 616 924.

Please note, audience seating for The Visit is general admission auditorium seating (not cabaret-style), to enhance the connection between our cast and our audiences. We’ve been careful to schedule our shows around mealtimes, & while our bar will be open as usual, we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing outside food or drinks, except water. Thanks for your understanding.
